Can canadian PR get new I-94 stamp to get into US on transferred H1

A friend's (Canadian landed PR) I-94 is expiring in 4 days. He has a valid H1 status and Visa until 11/04. Upon re-entry, he used old I-94 by mistake.

Can he re-enter into US with new I-94 valid until 11/04

- if he drives

- if he flies

Or any problems?

He should get the new I-94 when entering . He should ask for it
