I am a derivative asylee through my father and we recently received our Green Cards. My GC category is AS8, which is Derivative Asylee (AS6 is Principal Asylee, AS7 is spouse).
If I apply for a passport from the consulate of my country of citizenship (assuming they don’t give me problems), can I use that passport to travel to Canada and maybe Europe? I am definitely not returning to my country of origin until at least some time after becoming a US citizen. Would traveling cause any issues when applying for citizenship/issues with CBP at the border?
I know that my father can’t/shouldn’t travel with a passport, but I’m curious about myself.
