I received my FP notice yesterday, and of course it is on one of the only 3 days in August that I cannot make it (I made a bet with my wife on it and I won

I'm debating what to do, try for a walk-in, or just send the notice back requesting a rescheduling. I'm leaning towards just going and trying for a walk-in once (it's a 2h drive one-way for me), and if that can't happen, I'll reschedule.
My questions are: 1) does Indianapolis even takes walk-ins (and if someone here has experience with that office) and 2) what would be the best time of day to try - right when they open, later in the day etc.?
I can hang out all day if that will get me a walk-in.
I'm just afraid that they will take their sweet time (weeks?) to reschedule an appointment.
Any input appreciated.
PS. I have confirmed airline tix showing I'll be on the East Coast the date of my appointment, if that would help any.
