Biometric fees, tax deductible?

Hello all,

First of all, let me say that all of you who contributed to this forum have been a great help to me in the last few months. THANK YOU!

Apart from time and oftentimes mental and emotional energy to wade through the process, we spent a chunk of money on the biometric fees, medical examination fees, etc.

Can we claim them as unreimbursed job hunting expenses for deduction when filing our income tax? Obviously assuming our employers are bearing none of the costs incurred.

Thanks for any insights or sharing of experience.
Have a great weekend.

hahaha.,.. you gotta be kidding. :D

immigration costs are personal expenses and cannot used for deductions from your taxes. The medical part of the expenses could be treated as tax deductible if you are self employed, but you have to confirm this with a CPA.

If you happen to come across information that suggest that these expenses could be treated as business expenses and can be tax deductible, pls let us know right away. EVERYONE here can deduct the the immigration costs from our taxable income ;)

Talk to a couple of tax consulatants and see what they have to say. Let us know in any case. Good Luck!
