Let me know as to what you think of the following scenario...

Due to the availability of lots of visa numbers for fiscal year 2001, the dates are supposed to become current sometime in the next few months...as the EB3/EB2 date progresses over the next few months, more and more folks who applied for AOS in Aug/Sep99 would be eligible for their adjudication...meaning that VSC has to keep processing all the Aug/Sep 99 cases until they are done with those and then only start processing Oct99 cases...and this could take a long time since the cases received in Aug/Sep 99 are quite high in number...

Would appreciate any comments on this one...

I think you are right. The INS has been processing by ND, to a large extent. So, if there are a large number of pending applications, filed in Aug/Sep, 1999 (quite likely), and suddenly if the PD becomes current, they may tend to clean them up before proceeding further. But if be slightly different if the PD also just moves rapidly, but does not dis-appear altogether....

Srini123,
In fact INS might be holding off approving any more cases by priority date. Once the priority date becomes current they can start doing all the cases in order by ND. Processing of 485\'s might be easier for them to do by ND than by PD.
This could be linked for Oct99-Mar00 not getting FP..Remember in Oct 99 priority date became current and went back in Mar99..
Just a theory!

Of course you\'re right - if PDs become current, Oct 99 (and after) waiters will be waiting for a very long time. There is a large number of applications with Aug/Sep 99 NDs.
