Asylum 1 year presence requirement

Hi to everybody. First of all wanna thanks everybody for your help, I've learned a lot from this forum.

So my question is: I am an approved asylee that has a Travel document and wanna travel outside of US, but a lawyer told me if I will travel before I apply for a green card, I am gonna have to wait another full year after I comeback to apply for a green card. So basically he says I have to be constantly present in US for one year. But I found this

i read the page you attached, and i believe that the keyword is "cumulative." you might thin that just add up the time befor you leave and after you come back to one year should be ok, but when i read, i got the sense of continuity requirement for the one year presence. i could be wrong, so let's wait for people who had experiences in this to share.
