Asylee applying for green card

Hi guys -

I was granted asylum more than a year ago and I'm about to apply for a green card. But I'm having the following issues -

1) I cannot find my birth certificate and I cannot go back to my COP to apply for a copy from the government
2) I had a short visit to Canada recently using my refugee travel document after my asylum was approved although my total stay in the US still exceeds a year since the asylum approval

For 1), I'm planning on submitting notarized affidavits from my parents regarding my birth and their marriage certificate; for 2) I can submit a copy of the departure date stamp on my refugee travel document to show that I've already been in the US for more than a year before I left for Canada

Do you guys think this makes sense? Are these typical situations to be in? I'm a little concerned. Thanks.
