I changed from H-4 to H-1b. my H-1B approved on July 07 with validation date starting from Oct. 01,2006
I went to local SSA (social security office) office to apply for my social security number this week.
The officer turned down my application, and told me that I should come back after oct. 01 2006 (the validation date)
Have anybody experienced similiar situation?
I thought that my status is already in H-1B since the approval, therefore, I should be entitled to apply for SSN now?
And,since my status is changed from H-4 to H-1, is that possible that SSA can not find my information on their online verification system, they have to manually check my information with USCIS instead?
Thank you very much if you can share any information with me?
