Appointment needed for TN stamping?

Are TN visa interviews only available through appointments (during weekdays from 8 - 3:30) now at the Border now and not as walk-ins or during weekends anymore? If anyone has recently obtained TN visa at land border crossing without having to call ahead for an appointment then please share your experience and provide some insight if there is any change in their process.
 
No change in the process. Appointment is preferred, and as far as I know they are usually full. Priority given to appointments and only then if there is enough personnel then walk-ins are considered as of 3 days ago. Recommend appointment.
