Any Issues if EAD and AP is not applied for ??

Hi,
Me and my wife, both are on H1 and we both have more than 2 yrs left on H1.
Recently my priority date became current and now I\'ve to apply for I-485 (EB2, RIR). I talked to HR person regding applying for EAD and AP, she said, the company doesn\'t cover the cost for EAD and AP, so they don\'t do it !!
Now my question is what could be the issues if we don\'t apply for EAD and AP ?? I know, we can still go out of US and come in on H1 without any problem, but just want to know if there is any advantage to keeping an EAD and AP too !!
Any thoughts are appreciated !

EAD and AP are additional "patches" because 485 may need a long time to get approved.

Nowadays 485 process speed is significantly improved in CSC.
In my case, my 485 got approved when EAD was still pending.
So EAD/AP become redundant if 485 can be approved in few months.
