After GC/I-551 - Layoff or Quit?

I got my EB based I485 approved very recently. I have a situation in which i can get laid off next week with a small severance package. Is it better to get laid off rather than quit before 6 months (or a year) from the sponsoring employer? In other words, can INS question your intent to work with the sponsoring employer after GC if you were laid off vs. quitting?

Has anybody been is a similar situation? As always, any thoughts or feedback is greatly appreciated.
 
Layoff is beyond control

Layoffs are beyond your or INS control so your intent is not a factor. However if you quit then the burden of proof of intent rests with you.
