Assuming that your AP will be valid on the date of your return, YES, you can use it on the house!! Make sure you carry all your docs (485 receipt, all AP's, EAD's) for all family members who accompany you.

I just got back from traveling with my AP. All I needed was my passport, my AP and a properly filled-in I94 document (which you typically do in the plane). I wasn't asked any questions, just sat in the seperate office until they called my name and that was it. :)

Assuming your A.P is valid on the date while you return to U.S.
If you travel via London, Paris etc.. (check with concerned embassies) , you need transit visa..

Documents to carry:--
-------------------
a) Passport/ A.Ps (Three original documents and some photo copies too)
b) E.A.D
c) I-140 Approval notice( If it approved so)
d) I-485 Original receipt

You may note that you need to handover all your I-94s while you leave (even they are expired) and get one new I-94 while you return.

Try to give a copy of A.P if any body wants to keep it with them (Like air lines personnel etc..)

Questions to expect:--
----------------------
Staright forward questions like , do you have your EAD card with you?

Which company you are working for? Who is sponsoring your permanent residence?

That's it, good luck
