25000 GC approved in 48 hours before july 1st

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/07/06/us/06visa.html?hp

According to NY times, 25 K GC were approved in 2 days before july 1st. Does that mean that they are still sending out GC.

Well, the processing time at CIS is just like a joke. As matter of fact, the entire EB/GC immigration process in US is a big fat JOKE.

EB has 140000 VISA each year. So, ideally/logically, CIS will need to approve 12K visa each month or 550 VISA every day (no weekends). But, all in a sudden, they can finish a 2 months job in 2 days.

So, what's wrong with them? Based on the 60000 VISA approvals in the last few weeks, what will be the processing time to be advanced in the up and coming CIS processing time report in Mid July?

Do you still remember, there is a 5-6 months advance on I485 on the 6/15 processing time report but quickly revised on 6/18? It looks like this is not a joke at all but just someone carelessly reveal their future plan. Just my .02

Mine also there. I did get approved. it's just lie.

I don't buy this one. USCIS requires atleast 2 weeks to print out a reciept number and Wow only 48hrs to approve 25000 visas. Amazing

Last year there was a bonus for approving backlogged labors and things moved very quickly. This year the budget for this work is up in Sep. Hence if the visa numbers were not used by these guys, they would have lost their bonuses. Lou Dobbs covered this as part of the broken USCIS system

5 minutes per green card approval!

That is 6.9 seconds per application in case nobody went to the bathroom.
Assuming 5 hours of bathroom breaks sleeping and eating time each day it comes to app. 5 seconds per approval
Assuming there are 500 workers working on this, it is app.
5 minutes per application
What could drive a govt. agency to do this?

Is this the way USCIS works so that they get up and tell we dont have any more visa numbers. Its really disturbing.

Do they assign visa no. for concurrently filed I-140/485??

What way happen to concurrently file I-140/485 ? My I-140 is still pending and 485 too. Is there any chance of assigned visa for my 485?

5 minites enough to approve 25,000 cases.

All peoples (including lawyers & media) are spreading rumors, confusion. All the 60,000 cases including those 25,000 got approved in 48 hours were pending for more than 6 months to few years. All these cases are processed, data entry completed, checked by officers and determined eligible for GC, during the processing period. It is called pre-adjudication. They have not done any processing in June. They just did the approvals only in June.

If they sort the pre-adjudicad 485s in excel sheet, it may not reqire 5 minitus to approve them in computer.

I was hoping that pre-adjudicated cases would be in the pipeline for approval, but alas! it is not so.
My Case: EB2 India PD Aug 25 2005, 485 RD 09/29/2005 TSC
I was told in my infopass session on 6/18/07 that all security checks were completed on my case, that it was pre-adjudicated and waiting for a visa number, and that it would be assigned to an officer in July.
I spoke to a very friendly TSC IO yesterday and she told me that although my case was pre-adjudicated and everything looked good, my case was not assigned a visa number, that all visa numbers were exhausted, and that new numbers would be released in October.
I don't think the IO was deliberately giving me wrong information.
Is it possible per-country limits were hit?
Anyway, whatever criteria they follow, their process is clear as mud:mad:

MY PD is 08/2004 NIW india
I opened SR on 12/06 and received response that the case is pending visa availability. I have replied to the 485 RFE about birth affidavit etc on 09/2006and FP is current.
I could never talk to IO. I called on 07/05 and they opened SR again. will they send me all the information in response.
Is visa # assigned?

Apparently they have been going by RD, and almost all the cases approved in June have an RD in 2004 or before (there have been a few exceptions though).
