we have to travel to India on an emergency the coming weekend.

my son has his original OCI, issued in 2006. his features are still recognizable even today. he has a new passport.

will there be any issues in immigration, since we didn't renew his OCI, even though his passport has been renewed.

Data point from earlier this month: no issues. Presented the new passport and OCI card; had the old passport just in case but the immigration officer didn't ask to see it. The IO did not even mention the need to transfer the OCI to the new passport. The NaMo government may be quietly doing away with cumbersome requirements. For instance, the customs form is gone for most people; it is needed only if you wish to declare something. The immigration form has fewer questions (e.g., you enter the passport number but do not mention who issued your passport and when it was issued). The passport is scanned by the IO anyway and so technically nothing more should be needed; I think the paper version is merely a backup. Needless to say, past performance is not indicative of future results! :)
