The other day I met with an USCIS information officer via an Infopass appointment. I learnt that my name check was still pending. On the drive home, I realized that October 8th will be four months (i.e. 120 days) since my interview. At the end of my interview in June, the officer told me to contact him if I had not heard anything about my case within the next 120 days.
A lot of people on forum have decided to resort to a Federal “Writ of Mandamus” case to resolve the pending naturalization case. I have thought about this, but would not want to use this only as a last resort. I’m not worried about the cost of such as case as a very close family friend is a lawyer and has agreed to help me out should I choose this option. I have decided to write a polite letter to the officer and director of the district office informing them their 120 days is up. I also plan on writing a similar letter to my senator’s office requesting assistance in regard to my case.
I’m just wondering if letters to USCIS, either thru my senator or directly from me, will have any impact on my case, especially since my name check is still pending. Does anyone have any experiences in this matter?
If not, it might just be easier for me to file a case in federal court as I would only have to pay the filling fee.
