Great News...GC has been approved for my parents. Interview lasted about 15 minutes.
My parents cannot speak great english but can manage. So we did not require a translator.

I am applying GC for my parents - both of them did not have a BC. We got a affidavit from a very old relative about their birth dates and place. However, we had to get from the govt that a BC was not issued which was the toughest part (India). Anyway after 2 months of begging with govt...
I got RFE before biometrics. Within a week after I submitted the required requested docs, got the interview letter. They have given about 5 weeks time between the interview letter and the interview.
We had a relative go to Registrar office daily. Expect to pay them - Rs 2000 to Rs 8000 just to make them do their job. The incompetent govt employees will keep saying tomorrow, next week etc. Suggest to directly contact the signature authority (Sub-Registrar or Registrar) and not go to low...
During my parent's GC interview, can we get a Parole? Will it be mailed separately

After battling for almost 2 months, we have got the Non-availability certificates from respective "Registrar for Births and Deaths". Surprisingly, I had sent by Priority Mail with signature required and PO Delivery person could NOT get a person to sign !! So they have left a notice with USCIS...
They have asked for Parents' birth certificates. USCIS also has given 87 days which should be sufficient, I hope. I will post later about the documents we are going to submit.
Hi
I have applied GC for my parents and we received a inquiry for birth certificate. My parents don't have a birth certificate and hence we submitted a Attestation on a Stamp paper (India) by our uncle(s). However, the consulate has asked for a "Non-availability" certificate.

My parents' B2 visa is expiring in 3 weeks. They have a 10 year visa and are in their 7th year. They have made about 4 or 5 visits in the last 7 years and have never applied for extension. We just now decided to apply for GC.

Got Citizenship in 90 days (could have been much lesser)
I have written the total experience of my Citizenship, please post yours too.
I got my GC through my spouse's citizenship (@ Detroit; see my signature), hence my hibernating period was only 3 years. I applied before the Citizenship...
Hello
I am a GC holder, obtained it through the citizenship of my spouse. I have already spent more than a year on GC and will be eligible to apply 3 years from the date of GC (90 days earlier).
I am planning to go outside the country to spend more than a year. If everything goes well, I...
Received my plastic today after a suspenseful name check period of short 20 days after the interview.
I would like to thank a whole lot of people who had put their experiences and answered my questions.
Is it plastic?
Got another mail today stating that 485 was approved and has been mailed. But it was approved already sometime ago. I hope they are mailing the plastic.
Hopefully you will get through this little hurdle too. Keep us posted if the IO gave you the stamp tomorrow.
Congratulations in Advance, looks like your name check has come through. That must be a relief.
