I need to apply PIO to Indian consulate for my minor and was wondering if it is ok to submit Green card as proof of legal status. The PIO form is asking to submit both parents legal status proof. I am a Citizen and so it my daughter but my wife is still Asylee dependent and has her green card...

jonny1, You are right and wrong. Right because, yes as a citizen you won't be asked any questions at the port of entry and since you don't have to appear for any immigration interview after that you don't care. Wrong becuase you still lied about your situation to US immigration to stay here...

Then no wonder you didn't have a problem. The issue is with those who have "asylum granted" stamped on passport. Consulate is not issuing SC or visa to them or at least that's what I know.

How did you guys get the surrender certificate. Isn't that a requirement for visa ? For surrender certificate don't they ask for Indian passport ? That is a problem with asylum granted stamped on it or are you saying that are fine with it now ?

I agree with you. I am willing to join also with my family if needed. One more suggestion is to hold rally in front of SFO office. No violence but peaceful protest. Let media cover it and the mean lady will have to take the heat.

Are they not asking for surrender certificate or indian passport for visa from persons of indian origin?

USCIS is usually very clear in its instructions. Look for instructions for I-485 and if it specifically ask for "Color copies" then you have to provide them. But i doubt they do. So, just send B/W copies.

It is possible. The document is usually posted within couple of weeks after approval. Read your email completely. It should say something like "Your permanent residence card was send on ..blah blah" don't remember exactly but it will give you enough information. Congrats !!!
