    very good news for asylees and refugees in Florida

    The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles has made the decision to change its policy and will treat refugees and asylees as permanent immigrants. This means that they will be issued a normal license or ID card. The State hopes to effect this policy later this week. :)

    The INS has just released its asylum statistics for FY 2002. 25919 people were granted asylum by the INS alone I recalled that immigration judges granted about 9000. Add the BIA and Form I-730 approvals to these. Soon people will have to wait for more than 20 years.
