u need to apply N400 on 4/1/2010 or later and wait to get approved before applying for US passport. Complete process takes around anywhere from 4 - 7 months depends upon local DO. There is no need to apply for Indian PP if there is no travel plans.
I dont think it is necessary to carry passport card either all the time and due to wear and tear it might damage the RFID chip. To keep a copy is good idea.
Passport card is good for land and sea travel but NOT for air.
Applying together would have saved you the execution fee of $25 but...
Are you the one also reading the countries and their count or just pledge of allegiance? You did a good job on the stage.
Also I had a chance to take the pic with my IO after the oath :)
There is a high chances that IO will question you abt residency outside US as it assumes that residential ties has not met. Did you had re-entry permit when you left US? Also it will be good idea to gather some strong evidence why you were outside US for a long time.
1) 1- 2 months, in some cases may be longer depends on name check
2) Until your oath is completed, you need notify INS about ur addrress change by filing AR-11
3) Once you receive ur IL and during your Interview you will be asked about any address change and they will notify abt your oath...
Update: I am done with my Oath today Fri 7/24/09 at Hialeah, Miami DO. Total 180 applicant showed up from 15 countries including one from UK and Spain. It took us more than 90 minutes for complete ceremony.
Also applied for PP & card on same day. Good luck!!!
I went to Europe for 3 weeks after my FP is done but during my vacation period due to mail hold, I missed my Interview notice and I have to schedule a INFOPASS at local office for duplicate IL.
So its a lesson for all, do not plan any trips after filing N400 application due to faster processing.
I have my oath tomorrow too but I am taking only my GC. I don't think I have any other documents related to immigration.
Once I received my certificate tomorrow I am goin to apply my PP immediately at post office.
I am curious whether n445 means approved or is there a step of checking involved by USCIS during oath? I know there are questions on back of N-445 and what happens when someone says "yes" to one of those question?
