    N400 package

In most cases it does help to RTFM (Read the Fine Manual)... USCIS has a (justifiably) short temper dealing with such errors. When they go to great lengths to explain how to write them a money order or check (payable to such and such, NOT so and so) then chances are they're expecting people to...

    Laptop

$675 application fee and no free Wi-Fi :-). I've seen a couple of people (probably lawyers from the looks) tap away while waiting. No anti-camera-phone warning signs, either (just turn off). It would not hurt to call and ask.

    fishing ticket and the interview

We had a long chat with the IO after interview... I work in consumer electronics software & design and I have to admit, he was pretty knowledgeable and had some great ideas! Fishing, I'd be at a loss. Can't stand still...

Are we talking fishing or whaling? :D

    Citizenship interview- what comes next?

Temporary Citizenship Certificate - hey, who would have thought of this :D. Maybe a stamp on the I-94 or a sticker on the GC :D. It's still strange that in most DO's a 3 month N-400 is typical, but it takes twice that to process a Fiancee visa.. Just hang in there.

Help needed on n-400; Marital History

The obvious question is why the divorce process has dragged on for 8 years... And who benefits from the process - i.e. if you get to file 'married' for 8 years (taxes) then that could be a tax issue as well.

How to sign US Passport: Color of Ink and type

Don't laugh... I had a devil of a time using ballpoint to write my (very long) name and A-number in the back of pictures - Did not use Sharpie as I was afraid it would leak. Did not bother to try either. Turns out the extra fine Sharpie would not leak (Costco & Sears paper both) and would have...

    Citizenship questions

Use the new N-400F form for families :D Just kidding - one BIG envelope, two SMALLER envelopes inside, two checks seems to be the prevailing method. You're right about the children. N-600 is straightforward and a good idea.

When to shred the non-immigrant papers?

Just call it your own A-file and be done with it :-)

They want to make sure :D Maybe we should have a board contest - whose status is stuck the longest...

    Received my passport

Even more important, is that REALLY your picture on the passport? (don't laugh, it happened to a compatriot of mine - she gets her Green Card from INS, and realizes that it's her info with some other lady's picture on the card...) Congrats!

Online Status Update after passing interview

An Infomass is what you get after you file the paperwork to get a copy of your A-file :D Seriously, that's basically it - it goes up to "Testing and interview" and that's all she wrote. Can't help but wonder if other dealings are more real-time, ie. I-485's, I-130's, I-90's, etc.

    Dual Citizenship for US Citizens

I recently stumbled upon http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_nationality_law#Loss_of_citizenship which claims that any US Citizen, by birth or N-400 or whatever, could lose citizenship if they get another nationality with the intent of abandoning US Citizenship. I Googled some more and...

Going to the Social Security office..

True, but if you have the SS Card with the "NOT VALID FOR EMPLOYMENT" decoration on it, you may want to reconsider :D

    After interview Phoenix add'l Documents

Any of the other documents USCIS sent you (initial receipt, FP notice, etc) regarding the N-400 should have the //SYSIN DD * number (let's see how many people got it) I forgot to make a copy as well (considering I have a pretty nice multifunction office machine next to me) and realized it only...

    Foreign passport and US passport

I was photographing the Ryugyong Hotel in North Korea when these 12 dudes showed up ... No, seriously, I'm talking more "wrong time wrong place" type events, natural disasters or emergencies, or things like losing your passport(s), etc, etc, essentially all the services provided by the...

Address Change during Citizenship file under process?

You have to be a resident where you apply for 3 months. If you move in between, I think you have to wait 3 months to 'establish residence' in the new place, then apply. if you apply now and move, and file the AR-11 etc there may be a delay in sending your file from one DO to another... It may...

    Foreign passport and US passport

Sure, but what is the deal with being on your own if you enter Bad Country with Bad Country's passport versus entering Bad Country with a US passport? in the event something Bad [tm] happens, will the US Embassy of Bad Country help in this case? Many countries, for example, have restrictions...

Going to the Social Security office..

Yikes. I need to do mine and my wife's, does she need to come or it's something I can do for her, just show her documents and drop off her form... The SS office is 5 minutes away from where I work, and 1 1/2 hour from where she works (we live in the middle :)).
