It takes about 5 weeks maximum if your application is complete in all respects and there are no missing documents.

Not all OCI card holders have held an indian passport. I have not been asked anything other than USP and booklet. Immigrations Officers asking this has not been reported in any travel sites or MHA FAQs

Very strange. The date should not move. Maybe the prining of the booket got screwed ? Is she a minor ? Only minors and people who cross the 50+ threshold and renew their passport need to transfer OCI to new passport.

Booking tickets from travelocity.in or expedia.co.in results in one fare. Actually sometimes the USD rate works out cheaper by a few dollars on IT due to saving on charges to convert into INR charges on your credit card.

After a bit of research, I wonder why did you not have a 10-yr visa for your son ? and as a minor he does not have to register. Since he is a minor his passort is not a 10 yr, but 5 year validity. Double-check that too :(

You do not need a cancelled Indian Passport. You have your US Passport, OCI Booklet. More than sufficient.

It is more expensive to have a PIO than an OCI, and as others have mentioned, processing time is about one month +/- one week.

Post 1: US Passports and cancelled indian. Go up the steps, and drop them with the receptionist between 930AM - 11:00 ?? ; and come pick up the passport and OCI booklet after 4:30PM same day. Take the E train to 53rd & 5th and walk 11 blocks, or take a cab to 64th & Madison and walk the block.

One month and 7 days after mailing it to CGINY, my OCI was transfered to the new passport. I dropped it off in the morning, and picked it up in the afternoon.
