I was not aware that the SSC came automatically. When I sponsored my mother, I had to take her to the Social Security Office after receiving her new green card to apply for a SSC.
It sounds like your problem was resolved because you say "I won the case". You are just trying to see where that leaves your citizenship application, correct? Have you tried going to an immigration office in person to get more information?
It would suck to hire yet another attorney at this point...
I am now a US citizen. But I successfully applied for asylum 4 years after my arrival so I speak from experience. Here is my take on the specific questions he is asking:
1. I do not agree that your change of sexual orientation can be grounds for justifying an asylum application 10 years after...
My situation is almost identical to yours. My father passed away as well, and I filed for my 72 year old mother (born in 1945). My Birth certificate also has her married name and I went through the whole process smoothly. She just picked up her passport with US visa and US Welcome packet last...
Hi,
I have heavily relied on this forum for assistance from my asylum application all the way to my citizenship. I honestly never thought I would be back with questions but here I am.
I decided two months ago that I would like to marry a childhood friend a (no family ties) which I haven't seen...
Your post seems all over the place but I understand your stress level.
I traveled to my COP and renewed my national passport. I had the passport with me during the interview (in Baltimore MD) and never intended to hide anything. The officer used it for identification purposes only and had no...
Yes, I applied well over a year after I got in. But I don't want to take over this thread without answering Munka's question. Sen me a private message if I can help you more.
Munka, have you tried to get an infopass appointment to go see whay it's taking so long?
The reason for denial was that I had not shown compelling reason for applying for asylum outside of the 1 year time frame after arrival on US soil. I was referred to an Immigration judge and won in court.
On the threat of persecution side my case was bulletproof and well documented in national...
Years ago I was recommended for approval but still got denied. It did not take 5 months to hear back from the immigration though. That sounds like a long time.
Expressing an opinion (read: "I believe") based on my personal experience can never be "disingenuous". You may disagree, but my opinion is what it is.
Thanks.
I like the thought of waking up as US Permanent Resident and going to bed as a new US CITIZEN!!!!
I had my interview at 11:30am this morning at the Baltimore Maryland office. I arrived 20 minutes early only carrying the documents listed on my appointment notice (Green Card, Passport, and...
Hi,
It really looks like I am a couple of days behind you. Mine just changed today to "In line for interview Scheduling". Maybe there is no "waiting line" in your state/area, who knows? Congrats !! The excitement is growing.
If you recall, we got our GC within days of each other and we discussed talking again when citizenship time comes. You are a couple of days ahead of me on the N-400 timeline. I'll try to do a walk-in in Wheaton MD today and se how it goes..
Thanks for the advice.
Congatulations, I share your joy as I sent mine two weeks ago and already got my FP notice today. Just one day after I received my Notice of Action (??).
Hi,
1. I am eligible for citizenship as of June 2013, GC holder since Sept 2009
2. While on asylum status my father passed away in COP. Was not able to attend funeral because of status and other risks. (This was the most devastating thing I experienced in the last 20 years)
3. After...
