Just a heads up - IF your planned trip is an international trip, if your do get a same day oath, you will need to make adequate plans to ensure you receive your US passport before you leave for your trip.
I received three jury notices before I naturalised - each time I responded that I was not a citizen - and that was it. I think the procedure here in California was an automated phone call, then mail back the form with the same details. I have heard that the info for jury notices is pulled from...
That was not my experience. My interview was originally scheduled for September. I wrote and requested my interview be rescheduled as I was (temporarily) out of the country working on a film location. I requested my interview be rescheduled after my return on Jan 1st. My new interview was...
Thanks for the responses. Since I had no name change, my renewal date was tied to my birthdate (not green card date), and I have not read anything other than vague rumours on this site that notification was required - I just went ahead and renewed my license online.
Is there any need to update your status at the DMV after naturalisation? Does the DMV even keep records of your immigration status? I have vague recollection about seeing a post or two about this recently, by the search function doesn't pull up anything. If so, what is the easiest way to...
1 - Walgreens should be fine. I had mine done at Costco. Yes, they are the same as passport photo's - but, the person taking the photo's should be aware of the immigration requirements.
2 - you are correct - copy of green card (both sides), photo's, signed application & check. I disagree...
My interview in Los Angeles was 7.15am. They didn't start allowing applicants through the security line till 7am - I arrived upstairs at 7.20Am, was was called in by 7,25AM. the good thing about such an early interview is at least you won't have long to wait.
You can apply for your passport as soon as your oath is completed - and you have received your Certificate (which happens at oath ceremony). Some of the larger oath ceremonies even have staff accepting passport applications at the same site immediately after the oath ceremony.
In the time...
In your situation, I think I would do the same thing. With no urgent need for citizenship, the possible hassles regarding obtaining the passport - not to mention to additional $$ for expediated service, and the stress worrying about it for the next 3-4 weeks would influence me in the decision...
I'm not sure of you can call a 1800 number from overseas - I haven't been able to do it.
As to your questions - I am in agreement with Bobsmyth's answers.
Di you realise these posts you are replying to are all nearly 5 years old - it's unlikely the posters still frequent these boards.
I'd suggest you start a thread with any questions you may have.
I didn't, but I was aware there is a place across the road from the LA office where they do the photo's - I thought if there was a problem with my photo's at the interview I would go and get new photo's then.
Another alternative, if you are planning on applying for a passport after your oath...

Yes, i read the previous postings......and, since I had a personal experience that related other OP's question, I thought I'd share it.
The OP seemed to appreciate my response - I'm not sure why you seemed to have a problem with it.
I applied (and was approved) under the "five year rule". I had no trips longer than 6 months (I did have one 5 month & one 4 month). Yet, early on in my interview the IO told me she needed tax transcripts, and would not be able to approve my application till I provided them. Yet, by the end of...
Whilst I agree re-scheduling interview is harder than fingerprints, it is still not difficult. All it requires is a brief written letter. been there - done that :-)
Cookie Monster,
congrats onthe approval - from your description, it sounds like we may have had the same IO - lady of asian appearance, heavy accent, no sense of humour, and ,not much personality ......but, I was approved too, so, it's all good :-)
