New York City - N-400 Timeline - Naturalization Experiences

Thanks Olia for your response regarding my query on timing. It seems that things get started a full 2 hours after you're asked to report. My oath location is at the US District Court Southern District on 500 Pearl Street. I found this website: http://www.nysd.uscourts.gov/naturalization.php...

Maybe your case is a good candidate for your congressman/senator's office to work on. I think at the very least, the congressional offices can push you up on the waiting list for the oath date. Good luck!

New York City - N-400 Timeline - Naturalization Experiences

Question: I have a couple of family members from out of town who would like to attend my oath ceremony. They're taking the train in, and so would like to know what time things actually happen. The oath letter says for me to be there by 9am, but I imagine a lot of time will be spent sorting...

New York City - N-400 Timeline - Naturalization Experiences

Thanks USHope. It won't hurt to call on your representative, or senator for that matter, for help. In my case, even if they weren't able to "push" my case to the head of the line, I think they'd at least find out what the cause of the delay is. Good luck on your sibling's case!

Thanks ZeusNero. It's literally a magical thing. For instance, I'm vacationing in Europe right now (but will be back in NYC in a few days). Last time I'll be begging for a Schengen visa, thanks to the magical blue passport!

mbetona-- My congressman is someone else. I suggest you call Crowley's office, and then ask to speak to someone who can help you with your immigration case. I'm told they usually have someone who's assigned these types of queries. It's a good idea for you to contact them. My impression is...

New York City - N-400 Timeline - Naturalization Experiences

Here’s the story of my application experience. I probably should have posted something a month ago to tell you all about my interview, but I was too depressed to do it—now, it seems like things are going ok once again. I had my interview in early November at Federal Plaza. My citizenship case...

Question about final disposition of a traffic violation: I just contacted a county clerk in Florida where I got a ticket, and they said that they don't issue any official final dispositions. Instead, they said that I can obtain (via a friend who lives in the area) a printout of a screen saying...

    EB1a NSC self-petition RFE - Help

I've never had to send an RFE response, but I would think you should resubmit all documents, to make it easier for them to decide your case. I don't think it hurts to send everything again. (Ok, it hurts the environment, so make sure you offset it by doing something good ...) This way, every...

    EB1a NSC self-petition RFE - Help

For this, you have to be bold. You should explain to them clearly what the letter should say: namely, that you're an exceptional scientist, among the best, etc.; and that your work directly impacts their own and others. They have to be able to cite specific things. If you have good...

    EB1 or Not?

You have a good list of creds. I had less, and got NIW and EB1-EA without RFE. Again, it's a matter of presentation. If your citations are high-quality, then 30 ain't bad at all-- and you should certainly highlight the 5 that appear to use your work as baseline or springboard or foundation...

    Need advice on EB1 (EA)

It would depend on how you present your case. I had similar creds when I applied a few years ago ... only difference was I reviewed many more than 3 manuscripts for journals. I also had less than 20 citations, but some of them were really good citations-- i.e., they actually referred to my...

    EB1a NSC self-petition RFE - Help

Hi, I'm unclear about what they mean by "verifiable documentary evidence of contributions to the field" beyond your publications. As niwseek asks: were your publications submitted with your application? If you did, then the problem lies in your reference letters. Did your references talk...

    Yet another Eb1-EA Case evalutation

The best way to do it is to explain to them what these EB1-EA reference letters are all about. If they're at the top of their fields, they must have written these things before. The key is to explain to them that hyperbole is the name of the game. If they ask you to suggest ways to write it...

    Yet another Eb1-EA Case evalutation

Yes, CS publications tend to be conference proceedings. They should be good so long as they're peer-reviewed. No, you don't have to publish in Nature or Science or Cell or PLOS. I never have, yet I've gotten EB1-EA approval. It's all a matter of how you can argue your case, through your...
