Hello all,
My parents are applying from NJ and we have a couple of quick questions, as we want to send the application today.
1. Can both applications be sent in the same envelope with separate check for each applicant?
2. As per this website - https://www.uscis.gov/n-400
should we be mailing...
I'll be travelling to India soon on my OCI.
I want to take at least $5k for my (and relatives') expenses there. But I may not spend it all, depending on the circumstances.
I do not have a bank account in India, not even the non-resident type ones. I think there's more than one kind of such...
Picked up OCI from CGINY
It was *decided* by my family members that I would have to personally pick up the OCI and not take the mail route with the travel to India so close.
After taking sick leave from work  I could only get to the basement of the Consulate 7 mins after 11 am. Blame...
Did I wait too long to collect OCI?
My Documents were received at NEW YORK CGI on 01/03/2008.
Yup that was in January and I still couldn't make that trip to NY to collect my OCI.
Now, there's a impending trip to India in the last week of July. Therefore, the dire need for OCI. :o
Is it...
How long is too long?
Online enquiry shows my OCI documents were received at NEW YORK CGI on 01/03/2008. But I still haven't had the chance to personally make that trip to the Consulate.
Does any one know how long can we trust the Consulate to keep the OCI? I may not be able to pick it up...

Online enquiry shows my OCI docs were received at NY.
I'm planning to visit the Consualte to get my OCI docs.
My Indian PP was cancelled previously.
Do I take both my Indian PP and US PP there?

Thank you, kagemusha.
So, from what you're saying, the US and Indian PP copies need not be notarized by a Notary! Wow.. that does save me a lot of trouble looking for a notary in the area. Just self attesting all the PP copies (i.e. all pages that were required to be copied), serves the...
Question on Notarization and photograph
I'm just getting ready to send the OCI application to CGI NY. A couple of questions to the experts:
I will be sending 2 copies of 3 sheets each (Part A and B together). Along with this, do I need to send two sets of notarized copies of both US and...
Congratulations, VisaApp!
(just came back from visiting your thread)
You must be relieved that the (especially) long immigration process for your parents is finally over. :) It's nice to know that those of us who were all posting on this thread had happy endings with our process (although...
Congrats Jyotsna!
She should be getting her SSN soon. If you don't get anything 6 - 8 weeks after arrival, try to get in touch with the local SS office. Better yet, call the 800 number first to see what they have to say.
All that's well ends well
CONGRATULATIONS VisaApp !! :)
Finally the ordeal seems to be over for you, well..almost. Now, just the waiting part till they arrive into US and the GC afterwards.
I want to also thank you for all your help with our immigration process. You were also very...
Congrats Jyo & Mom !!
Hellooo Jyo -
I just logged in today after a long time. And it was a nice surprise to see your post. I'm happy for you, after all the fretting and delays and what not - finally you are through with all that!
Just as everyone else, she should get her SSN and GC within...
VisaApp, Jyo & AZ -
Thanks very much guys, for all the support and wishes. We're slowly trying to come to terms with no medical test, after the initial (dumb) scare. :)
VisaApp - Like you said, you must keep following up with the Mumbai consulate about the interview. Keep sending them...
Received GC
Really happy to share the news :)
My Dad got his GC y'day. Much like az's wife, he got the card within one month of arrival. No word on the follow-up medical test yet. I'm hoping to be less paranoid about this issue now that he has received his GC ;)
It's funny he got...
Thanks much, azguy for the prompt response.
Yes, it is the Welcome Notice. Hoping to get the GC or some other info from USCIS in the next two weeks.
I can't begin to say how useful this forum is, at times like this, when some one has a question. Once again, thank you!
