No, I didn’t. I need it to travel. Anyway, I included the approval notice in the application. By the time I get an RFE, my current RTD must have already been expired.
I filed mine a month after yours and I am still waiting as well. I am worried too because people here and there who filed after us already got their green cards. There was even one guy who got their green card already on hand in less than a year after being granted asylum.
Frankly, it's...
Mine took about 15 months, so you will get yours soon! Wait a little longer. Then, if you plan to travel next year, you should file your second RTD right away.
May 2023: Granted asylum
July 2023: I was reluctant to submit I-485 because of the one-year residency requirement. I only submitted I-131 and paid I-131 filing fee.
(Sep 2024: I received my RTD.)
Sep 2023: Since the stats showed the processing time for I-485 is more than a year, I submitted...
Isn't it always USCIS' practice to reject the application without proper fee from the beginning? If they accepted the application and issued I-797C Receipt Notice, your application was considered complete and will be pending for adjudication!
With the discussion above, I thought I was screwed...
There is an ongoing petition to increase the validity of RTD and decrease the processing time. You may support their efforts by signing the petition. https://chng.it/9nnGrgCcTQ
It's great that you have 90 days and that covers 1 year residency. But .. the only thing that matters is you reside in the US for at least one year AFTER you were granted asylum. I don't think it matters if you have been in here before that. It's good to know that they don't ask for that...
Isn't it that RFE must be responded to within a time limit, normally within 1 month? Make sure that you read the RFE letter carefully. By the way, didn't they ask you in the RFE for proof of 1-year residency?
I just got my RTD less than a week, and I am thinking about submitting for the next one. With this wait time, I would have small gap of not being able to travel. I will not travel much, but at least I have it when I want to.
I did file I-485 6 months after being granted asylum. I included everything except the proof of 1-year residency. I know I will get an RFE for the proof, but at least I am 6 months ahead.
I submitted it alone because I was concerned about 1 year residence. I submitted I485 3 months later (6 months after being granted asylum). Here is from the approval notice.
It's kinda weird that your case got closed administratively, but that could change later. Anyway, this is my timeline for RTD. I received mine last Saturday.
