Work permit renewal usually take between 90 and 110 days. You might be without EAD for 2 months or a little more depending on their caseload.
But, cross your fingers (and pray a lot) that they decide to process your EAD in 60 days (happen sometimes when they are not busy).
Also, after 60 days...
Are you sure you sent your Renewal application on August 20, 2015 and that your current EAD will expire on January 30, 2016? If these are all true, it means you submitted your application 163 days before your expiration.
The earliest you can apply for EAD Renewal is 120 days before expiration...
Congratulation @Mustaf ! This message means that your case has been approved! Happy for you and your new life.
Can you share with us your timeline and more info about the Writ of Mandamus that you filed?
@Jaff did you even check your Z status online? That's the first thing to do. If it says that case cannot be found, answer to Cos123 and Asylum seeker's questions. That's how we can guest what might be going on.
Unfortunately, yes, it is. Some people have been waiting since 2012. Thousands of people are in your situation and are still waiting. I had my interview 6+ months ago, and I am still waiting for final result.
The system is broken and lawyers have complained why is it only the asylum background...
I think the officer really wants to help you. So, I think YOU should also help him by giving him some time to work on the case. Like he said, they are all very busy. So like someone else pointed out above, I think you should just like 2 months and send him an email to tell him that "I know you...
Congratulations Asylum Seeker!!!!!!!! After more than 3 years you deserve finally having some peace of mind!!!! I wish you the best of luck in your new free life.
This case is very sensitive, therefore it is critical to have a very good lawyer knowledgeable in asylum and other immigration matters. The reason many of them don't know what shows you the importance of having a very good one. Given the importance of the cares in this situation, I will advise...
You are a very lucky one since you have got a recommended approval. That means that the only thing you are waiting for is the background check.
Have you done biometrics again right before or right after the interview?
Actuallly, I don't think that 75% of cases are decided within 2 weeks. It is more just around 25-30% of cases.
For the rest, there is really no way to know the average decision period. All cases are different. Some are decided and are waiting for background check; some are in queue to be decided...
Thank you @Asylum75 . The fight is not over until it is over. You have a genuine case. The only thing you need now is gather all proofs and have your lawyer do his/her job. Good luck.
I know it is difficult, but do not think about returning to your country. Think of this as a second chance in a very long fight.
Prepare your case. Start by doing research about asylum. Think about how to strenghten your case. GAther proofs from country and also articles and any thing related...
