I believe that they hired you as an trainee if thats true you cant do anything. This is true even with National Institute of Health Trainee positions which is by the way most respected and largest US Gov funding agency.

You can go to your local sevice center for AP but I think most of the local center is not issuing EAD anymore, Mine is not, you have to check with your local USCIS weather or not they can issue AP and EAD and their time line.

Certainly you can change a job but it is more about i140 then EAD. You have to specify about your i140 in detail to get better answers.

It should work. They send you card only when they approve your case Ask your employer if they accept it.

I applied mine in Aug got card production on Nov 2 from NSC. where is yours? If you are maintaing a visa status like H1b etc you can go India and have them stamped visa on your passport if not you cant until you get your AP.

How long did it took you to receive your EAD after they ordered card production. USCIS ordered mine on Nov 2 and LUD on Nov 4 so I was just wondering how long will it take to get mine so that I can renew my driving permit.

Try madmonkey's advise and using that no check online status of your case. I even got my i485 etc receipt last week filed in Aug.

When did you submitted your i485? If it was (i140 efile) in july then every i140 was going to TSC as you fall under TSC jurisdiction you may have not noticed it and may be most of the people have sent their application to TSC and thye now re-routing them I sent my i485 and other to NSC as mine...

If I-140 gets rejected then you don't need to file 1-485 but if you have filed concurrently then in this case your money is lost.

Thank you very much for explaining it nicely. I do have question related to this. If my H1B expires and do not get renewed but I choose to live in US as i140/i485 pending but during that time sit at home and do not work What will happen in that situation?
