I assume (perhaps incorrectly?) that "NIH" refers to the National Institutes of Health.
I think your best course of action would be to discuss the matter upfront and in detail with your potential supervisor/manager. Let him/her know your status to be sure they will not have a problem with...
Jaisharma_99: The main reason our files got separated was because of my fingerprint problems. I ended up having to be interviewed and had a name check with local authorities (we were directed to a local office there in Baltimore after my interview). My interview was in Fall of 2003 (maybe...
We were in a similar situation two years ago. My husband received his GC April of 2003 but there was no change in my online status. He had been FP'ed once, while I already had three FPs (because they said there was a problem reading my fingerprints). Finally in May/June of 2003, we went to the...
Hi everyone!
I am hoping someone can help a very good friend of mine whose daughter's papers are in limbo.
My friend and her husband got their green cards (the physical cards) almost one year ago. When they were interviewed (in Baltimore) in December of 2003, they were told that their...
Officer C (September 2003)
I don't know if it will be the same person. I was interviewed by Officer C in Baltimore last September 2003. He was extremely professional. He went through the 485 application form (asked me for my birthdate, birthplace, parents' names, etc.) and looked at my...
I did not write my name nor A# on the back of my photos but it was not a problem at all.
It took about 5 weeks for me to get my card (the 5 weeks did include Christmas, New Year and MLK day).
I submitted my photos in Baltimore.
Good luck!! You should be fine!
My experience
When you say "everything was done", did that include signing the white card and putting your index fingerprint on it? Because that, I believe, is what they need for issuing the GC.
During my Baltimore interview on 9/10/03, I already did the signing and fingerprinting of...
Re: How long after the Welcome notice
My officemate received her welcome notice Friday before Martin Luther King Day and received her card on the following Tuesday (she may have been able to get it on Monday if the Post Office had not been closed!)
On the other hand, I actually received...
Quick update
Hi MD485!
Your estimate of the time was on the mark! I received my card today 1/23. Factoring in holidays during Christmas and New Year, that is just about a month from 12/18.
There was no change to my online status message....this was just an unexpected but very very...
Update on my case!
My card arrived today!
There was no change to my online message from my original I485 notice.
Actually, I received three pieces of mail from USCIS today. Two were welcome notices, which I noticed had a new EAC-#. This is now an EAC-04 number instead of the EAC-02...
Sorry to hear about that, QCO. Hope they get your file soon. The good thing is that Baltimore is relatively good at scheduling interviews so once they do get your file, it should not be that long of a wait to get your schedule. Good luck! Keep us updated!
Hi QCO,
There is no need for an appointment to check status. I've done it a couple of times at the Baltimore office. Remember to bring a picture ID and all relevant paperwork (e.g. transfer notice).
Good luck!
Hi Culfee,
I don't know why it took them so long to issue the approval after I submitted the police clearance. At that point, I honestly think it depends on the officer handling your case. If he immediately acted on the clearance you submitted, there is no reason to wait that many months...
marriage certificate
I was the derivative applicant on my husband's application. Our case was slightly unusual in that he was approved outright, no interview, but because of fingerprint issues, my case was transferred to a local center for interview (Baltimore). So I was the only one...
Thanks, MD485! I am really so relieved that the journey is almost done! My husband had gotten his card exactly 4 weeks after his stamping and I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I hope my experience will match his and yours!! :D
Received approval letter!
I received a letter yesterday from the Baltimore office informing me I have been approved and that I will get my card in "9 to 12 months" (hopefully sooner!)
I was also told I could go to Baltimore to get a stamp on my PP if I wanted to have proof of my approval...
