Processing time for green card based on asylum

Hi guys! Anyone is aware of the new guidance for adjustment of status for asylees? You must be present in the US one year when they adjudicate your case, not when you are filing.
Hello
Can you please share that link for AOS for asylees?

Hi all,
I’m wondering if I got my approval on Dec 2022, when would be the soonest I can apply for the adjustment of status with the new guidance applied.
Thank you in advance for your answer.

Specialists and lawyers say to wait at least 6 months as an asylee to apply for Green Card. In that scenario, whenever USCIS processes your file, you will reach the time for the one year rule (as an asylee). Let's say: if any of you have been granted asylum more than six months ago, eight months ago, NOW is a good time to apply :)

Is anyone getting this message below in USCIS ACCOUNT:-

Your case status is unavailable at this time. We are working to get you accurate information as soon as possible.

It’s been two days

Thank you for the information, appreciate it very much @LeoC
By any chance you know if it’s okay to do medical exam 6 months after been granted.

You're welcome!
You can do your medical exam anytime. As long as you send it together with your Green Card application in two months. Exams dated more than two months are not accepted.

Has anyone recently applied for I-485 based on asylum? What is the current wait time in your case for USCIS to cash the checks and send an “application received” notice?

Asylum granted date Jan 23, 22,
My I-485 application arrived at Jan 30, 23.

It will take up to 1 month to receive your receipt notice and then it will show that your finger print was taken and you don’t need to get finger printed again if they have one in their data base . The processing time is unpredictable and it takes anytime between 45 days to +2yrs but hopefully you will get processed within 6months .im not sure if uscis new policy will delay the processing time or not since people can apply for green card right away and no need to wait for 1year policy

Thank you for the detailed response. Yes, the new policy is confusing and not sure if it will help the processing times for the existing applications. It would be the best for existing and future applicants, if they just put the asylum grant date as the permanent residency start date and start counting from there towards 5 years requirement for naturalization.

Hi,

Yes. In the denial letter, they had mentioned that they deny my application because I was not eligible for Advance Parole document as I had already received my green card.
But it was a mistake by them as my application was for a refugee travel document not advance parole.
So, I called them and they sent the information to a 2nd tiered officer. She called me within a week and gathered the information.
After 1 more week, they opened my case again. So as it was a mistake by USCIS, I could expedite it and it was issued after 1 week.
I finally got this after struggle of several months. Do you know what is next?

"After review, we have reopened the above application or petition, or reconsidered the decision previously issued. You will receive a notice under separate cover once all action has been completed."

I don't think it's accurate information, asylee still need to wait 1 year after approval before they can submit green card application.

Im not sure if you read the recent news that published by uscis on website . if you read my statement again ,I said asylee can apply for green card right away and this doesn’t mean that they get green card right away they still have to meet 1 yr stay . The thing that we don’t know and not sure if the cases get processed right a way and preliminary decision would be made but they wont get it until they complete 1 year residency. If that is the case , this could potentially cause delay for the existing cases

When you have this travel document please take a look and let us know what Class/Categorie the document's photo page indicates.
