    Forgotten bank account

Actually, you have to report on the FBAR form (not your tax return) any foreign account if the aggregate peak reaches $10,000. That means that if you have 10 accounts holding $1000 each, you are required to file a FBAR. Form 8938 needs to be filed with your tax returns but the thresholds are higher.

I live in Manhattan. It took me about 3 and a half month from filing to oath.

    Missed Oath Ceremony

Don't worry. A friend of mine just forgot to go to his oath. It happens. After a couple of weeks he received another oath letter. Didn't forget the second time and he's a citizen now.

Expiring Green-Card days before the oath!

Arizona is definitely one of the most (if not the most) beautiful state in the country. Don't be scared to go there. People are also really nice.

Expiring Green-Card days before the oath!

Go to the oath with your expired green card, surrender it, get sworn in, get your naturalization certificate and apply for a US passport. End of the story.

I think the proposed legislations are totally ineffective. Actually, Sen. Graham is quite right. At least if someone is a US citizen, you can try him/her for treason and sentence him/her to death. It's all smoke. I don't think the American Taliban (Adam Gadahn, or similar) gives a cr@p if they...

Let's not forget that many of Sen Lieberman's voters (and maybe himself, too) are dual citizens (US/Israel). Again, if this guy renounced to his Pakistani citizenship, he would have done it anyways.

I'm all in favor of extra checks and everything to make this country safer. However, this man was in the US legally, and had he not applied for naturalization, he would have been able to commit the same crime, absolutely no difference. And I doubt they would have deported him after...lol...

    old passport after citizenship

1- No 2- They don't officially recognize it, but they do allow you to keep your former citizenship. They also acknowledge the fact that you might be considered solely a citizen of your other country in the other country. Your only legal requirement is to use a US passport when leaving/entering...

Yes. And my wife's US passport has always been stamped.

US Citizen Rights at US Border

I actually got back to the US today instead of Sunday. I had a stampless US passport, as I entered Egypt, Israel, Jordan and Italy using my italian passport. At immigration I presented my US passport and my customs declaration. The young and good looking (for once) officer swiped my passport...

US Citizen Rights at US Border

Next sunday should be interesting then. First trip as a US citizen. I'll be back (one week after my wife) with a blank US passport, as I got my egyptian, israeli and jordanian stamps on my italian passport and I'll use it also to enter italy of course. Funny thing, the usual interrogation at...

    Traveling after Oath Ceremony

Guys, Airline employees have nothing to do with immigration and CBP. And getting a passport at a US Embassy or Consulate abroad is perfectly legal. A friend of mine did it and I asked the US Consulate in Milan and they said it could be done, but it takes 2 weeks. So let's stop freaking out.
