I thought I heard, of late, that one can NO longer get the visas in a third country, be it canada or mexico! Plus, once you have an approved H-1B petition, it is considered quite safe to get the visa in the home country. It is unlike F-1s where random rejection is quite rampant.

Looks like some heavy pruning had been done too, in this forum! Threads and in one case, an individual's messages, in entirety, have vanished! Saw Leila Lehman a few times browsing the forum and I guess she is now taking a more hands-on approach.

What position in the GC process were you in, when your husband's visa expired in April 2002? If not an adjustee at that time, did he get his new H1B at least before the expiry of the previous one (April 2002)? These things will determine if he ever was out of status. Yes, H1 revalidation...
