    Legal Alien's Guide

Tatiana, My guess is that you didn't get employment based GC. You're saying: "There are some lucky people, like RealCanadian, who never needed that but they are exception from the rule, unfortunately." It is completely incorrect. Absolute majority of people who got GC through employer have no...

Re-entry to U.S. with valid GC but expired passport?

I have entered US from Canada yesterday (Calgary->LA). US custom/immigration didn't even look at the passport, he just passed my GC through the slot. But before you can get to US immigration, you have to check-in at the airline ticketing stand. And airline guy (Air Canada in my case) didn't care...

    Travel with GC no passport

You shouln't have any problem with leaving and entering the USA with GC and no passport. But the country where you are going will probably not let you in without a valid travel document. You have to check with their embassy what they require for entry. In some cases re-entry permit (white...

does an F1 have an A# i see one in the passport stamp??

I am not sure if all F1s have A number, but those who applied for OPT certainly do (the number is shown on EAD). Usually, when you aplly I485 they give you another A number and you have to list all your A numbers in the citizenship application. In your case, the information you provided looks...

    Driver License after GC

mikew151 The office on Roswell road is exactly where I got in trouble. The other one, where everything was easy, was inside Kroger store, somewhere just north of 285 and a little west of Roswell (I lived near Dunwoody and looked in the phone book for next nearest). Sorry that I don't...

    Driver License after GC

I lived in Atlanta for several years and when moved there also had problem to get GA DL instead of my license from OK. People in DMV were so stupid that it was impossible to talk to them. Then, I went to another DMV and got GA license in 20 min without any questions. Try other offices.

How To Handle The Interview: Be Fortright or Coy?

My friend went to interview some time ago. The interviewer practically couln't speak or understand English, he read questions from the paper with great difficulty. My friend had to repeat all the answers several times for the interviewer to understand them. The advice my friend gave to me...

Green card and no job: taxes?

tax forms are often asked for various purposes. for example you have to show them for citizenship, mortgage companies ask for them when you are buying a house, etc. to have all the records, it is better to fill 1040 (1040A, 1040EZ) and state form. You just have to put all zeros in the...

    Is this approval message?

this is a pretty typical sequence of messages. I first got "after approving we ordered card", then on the next day it changed to "this case was approved and approval notice was mailed", then 3 days later it changed to "card mailed" and 5 days later I got the card in the mail.

    Documents for Applying Citizenship

This situation was discussed in this forum several times already. If you try search, it should be possible to find those threads. There were links to some documents on CIS web site. Kids under 18 get citizenship automatically when their parents get citizenship.

Denied, Due to undisclosed sealed arrest, Should I file a Motion to Reconsider?

intokable21 I came here from the country where everybody urinates on the streets and stealing is more respectful than job. I didn't want to live there, and I don't want the US become like that.

Denied, Due to undisclosed sealed arrest, Should I file a Motion to Reconsider?

if sooner or later she and her brother get GCs, the story will be very nice for antiimmigrants. They will say: look who are these immigrants, they were stealing when they were minor, they were stealing as adults, they urinate in public and have marijuana in their pockets. Should we welcome them...

Overseas assignment for non-US company - impact on naturalization

dudejr, JoeF made a good point saying that residence is not the same as physical presence. Since you still have you house in the US and bank accounts and you are paying taxes, you can claim that your house in the US is your primary residence and whereever you are staying in Europe is...

Error on GC leading to denial?

Good example of a smart lawyer. We all should remember that the primary goal of a lawyer is to get our money.
