How long to get notice for interview

Just wanted to ask our respected forum-gurus, how long does it usually take to get a notice for a scheduled interview after filing I-589 form.

Thanks in advance.

40 days? did you contact the asylum office about it? maybe they sent the notice for interview but you didn't get it... did you get the finger prints appointment?

no, I didn't. do they usually send it separately or both fingerprint appointment and interview notice?

separately, the FP appointment first and the interview later... so maybe you missed the FP appointment, do contact the asylum office ASAP

may this delay be connected to the fact that I am still in status? I heard they have list of priorities...

Better safe than sorry, contact them to know if they didn't send the letters to you and ask them for the reason

In my case, I got all kinds of notice within 2 weeks from the date I applied. The interview was done a month after the notice. And I have been always in legal status.

Contact the USCIS toll-free line as well as the asylum office that has jurisdiction over your place of residence.

I was told that USCIS toll-free line has no access to asylum applications. I think he/she should call the asylum office directly.

Finally, I contacted immigration office in my town and they told me to wait two more weeks and if I do not get the FP then come over again.

I mean I visited Immigration Office and they contacted the asylum office for me. Do you still think it is strange?

well, I learned that no one will take care of your case more than yourself. A phone call won't kill anyone, do you have the asylum phone number?

I agree with Raziel, get the asylum office phone number from google.com and call the asylum office.

hello everyone.

I know its a little late to respond here but i just though, as i'm forth with my journey to the asylum [for now- that is], i think i should share :).

I sent the i-589 on Oct 24 09. And on 0ct 28, i got my interview notice whichis sheduled to be on 18th Nov. Then yesterday, 4th Nov, i got my FP appoiontment which is sheduled for 11th Nov.

Looks like my case is moving in a pretty rapid pace. As i've stated in my other threads, i've been residing in the country, sadly and unfortunately - illegally since more than past four years. I am hoping that the USCIS is not hastening my application to throw me out of the country.
