Work query while PhD on F1 Visa

Hi,

I have received my I-20 for PhD program in USA. I wanted to know for how many hours I can work with study? Also I have heard that during summer semester one can work full time (40 hours) on campus or off campus, is this true?

Please reply as soon as possible. I have to plan my finance based on this.

If your PhD includes an assistantship, you are required to work as in your offer. If not, you must have special approval to work either on or off campus. Work authorization is not guaranteed to all students.

You should clarify your options with the university's DSO and your prospective school's department graduate advisor.
