Is there anyone on this board , whose spouse lives in different
state in the US , and has successfully finished CP ?

I m in the NJ are and my wife is in Wisconsin.
I just wanted to see cases which have gone thru smoothly , and if the
visa officer conducting the interview raised any questions.

Thanks you.

While this is strange, I don\'t know of any reason this could prevent you from getting GC.
The only concern you might have is that they will suspect fraud, or that this marriage is for the sake of GC.

To be safe, make sure Marriage Certificate is acceptable. If you were married for more than 3 years or so before starting this weird arrangement, this is even better. If this is just temporary and you will join one another and you are able to show the circumstances that led to it, you can improve your position.

I wonder why you would think this is wierd.

I had a civil wedding in NJ . I married my college sweet heart.
Shes from bombay too , works in WI.
She came here for her MS. But could not find a job in NJ.
She was forced to stay in WI.
We had a civil wedding in early Nov in NJ.
We had planned to have a hindu wedding soon in any case .. but since
I was so close to CP , i had to add her name on Pkt 3. thats why
the civil wedding. we will also have a hindu wedding when we are
in bbay in January.
So in other words the civil wedidng was indeed for the GC paperwork.
Then again she will move here next yr ..but theres no way I can proove
that. The GC will just give her more freedom in finding a job here,

We do have our college records to proove that we know each other for
over 5 years.

Guess I ll just have to face the questions.
We both for work for large US based companies.
there s no reason for us to fake the wedding. She already has her own
visa status in the US .. plus a masters degree from Ohio.

I guess I m a little offened by you calling us "Wierd".

I apologies for bad choice of words.
While what you both do is entirely up to you and you have the complete freedom to do so, some other couples would have chosen to stay together. Since INS is "haunted" by the notion fraud is done by many, your situation can be scrutinized.
I am letting you know what INS might think (no certainty here). For certain family based, this will not have qualified (you would have needed to proove you live together).
Since I suppose you plan to live together in the near future and since you are newly weds, you can always say, if they ask, that you wish to in the near future.

As long as you have valid marriage certificate, you should be both fine. Because of your situation, there is some possibility (I don\'t know how much) that her status will be dependent on your continued marriage.

Can\'t you provide the same address?

Having separate addresses is not a problem. However, remember that the burden of proof is on you to demonstrate that your case is clean. Do not be offended by anybody\'s comments. Consular officers can pose far more incriminatory questions. Be objective in defending your case.

Back to my title question: can\'t both of you provide the same address in section #10 (address where you intend to live) DS 230? Your present addresses may be different, but post GC address can be the same.

As an aside, if either of you is a consultant, you can claim that you travel on weekends to the spouse\'s location.

Both of us are employees .
She is a Bio medical engineer in GE. I m a programmer on Wall street.

I ll carry plenty of documentation .. phone bills , pictures
etc to proove that we really know each other for a very long time.
I know I will be grilled there .. but I ll have to handle it
tactfully.

Is there anyone out there who has been thru CP with a case like mine ?

Anyone ?

I was wondering if theres anyone who has had a successful CP
under such conditions ?

thx
