V-1 validity

Hi,

I have been issued a v-1 visitors visa from oct 27th to april 27th, single entry. I wanted to know:

I can travel anytime between oct 27th to april 27th. Say i arrive in Canada on March 1st, does that mean that i can stay upto august 1st, even though my visa is issued till april 27th? or i have to travel and return back to my country within oct 27th to april 27th period?
