Urgent question - please help

Hi everyone

I would like to have a question related to our case. I'm a J-1 holder under 2 year requirement, my wife is J-2. We have applied for a hardship waiver based on my child medical condition but haven't known if it would be approved or not. My wife is a J-2 student, she has also applied for a J-2 work permit to get research assistantship from the university but haven't known if it would be approved or not.

1. I'm finishing my Ph.D soon so my J-1 will be expired. Therefore my wife needs to change to F-1. We think of going to Canada to change visa. Would anyone please let me know if the 2 waivers we have applied for would affect the possibility of getting F-1 visa ?

2. I'm also in another program of the same university, which is MBA. I need one more year to finish my MBA. I will have to change to F-1 also in Canada to be able to continue MBA. I have the same questions as the ones above for my wife. Also would F-1 be approved for master level if I would have graduated Ph.D at that time ?

Thank you very much.
