I am currently pursuing a Master's degree. I started my Master's in Fall 2020 on a H4 visa and recently visited India (Oct 1st, 2021) to convert from H4 to F1. Since I am in my final semester I am carrying only 4 credits, however my DSO says that I am out of status as I entered the country on an initial I-20 and need to carry a minimum of 9 credits to be in status. My advising dean is willing to give me 9 credits, however DSO isn't giving me a definitive answer.
I am afraid to fall out of status, please help!
