U.S citizen marriage to an alien outside U.S

Hi,

I am a US citizen and my girl friend is living/studying in Paris, France. I am thinking on "U.S citizen marriage to an alien outside U.S" instead of K1 Visa. because she will be graduate by next year and we have to wait 1 year.

Could you please let me know which visa is better for us (Cost, Time, less headache)?. I heard that K1 visa has a lot of headache (like interview in another country and converting K1 visa to another visa after she came to U.S and we got married)

Also Could you please give me more details on "U.S citizen marriage to an alien outside U.S" option?
