I have fully extended my J1, applied for a waiver (skills list, no objection), waiting for approval. Am I going to resubject myself to the two-year rule if, after having the waiver application approved, I visit home, apply for a new visa stamp, and reenter the US? Would it be reasonable to request the Advisory Opinion after the trip?
