TN visa - California Insurance license

Hello,

I have a job offer which requires obtaining California Insurance license. Is it possible to take the examination on a TN visa?

What TN category? The border will genrally allow you to get TN, if that ids required before you can take the exam, even if the exam is part of the requirement for TN (circular logic). They know that if you fail the exam, you can't work anyways, and will be denied the job.
 
Management Consultant category for a Financial Advisor position in a Wealth Management company.
The Insurance License in needed to get hired. Rest of the license (series 7/66) must be obtained will working.
How much time might they give me to obtain the license before employment? Does the letter of suppor have to say the exact date of exam and employment?

The license is not needed for your TN approval, so no need to mention. So, your company should be issuing you the required letter to get TN without need to mention these other company-specific requiremnts. Then it is up to you and company to ensure that you meet their objectives.
