Time interval before applying for H1 extension

Hello All,

How soon should I send my H1 for extension. My H1-B visa expires in eight months. I am wondering how soon should I send it to INS for extension.

You can send it any time but don\'t wait until the last month. It is not going to cut any days from your 6 year period.

Thank you. Do they give you full six years? Which date they count for your six years, from they issued you HIB notice or from the date you arrived USA?
