Tax implication for J1 holders

Hi.

If one works as a paid intern under J-1, what is tax implication? My understanding is you will be exempted from fed tax, but each state has a different policy for state tax exemption.

How about social security and medicare tax, anyone knows??

To the best of my information, a J-1 holder does not pay social security tax and medicare.
