Reemployment Assistance for TN Holder?

Hi everybody,

My contract ended 1 week ago and I am seeking for a new job.

My work permit expires on May 2017 with my former employer so I can be on status up to that date.

My questions are:
If I can request reemployment assistance during my next job seeker and,

I would like to know if I apply for reemployment assistance could I have issues with USCIS?

First, while your I-94 may still have time on it you are not in valid TN status, as you no longer have an employer/sponsor. The chances of you being found out while in US are unlikely, but you are not in TN. You could not of course leave US and come back without another TN application prepared. Most in your situation would have filed a change of status I-539 to B2 visitor status. But that is not possible now that you are no longer in a viable status.

You are not eligible for whatever the state is calling UI, since you do not have immediate employment authorization (despite the rapidity in which you could get stats), if you remain in US. A Canadian can go back to Canada, and can collect thru coordination with Service Canada. I do not believe mexico has such a program.
