Processing Time in US Embassy Philippines

Why is it that the INS Vermont and NVC process Visa application much faster than the INS in the US Embassy here in the Philippines. Until now, I still have not received any notice from the INS US embassy here in the Philippines as to the status of my visa application.

Hi Marie42

Can you post your details such as:

Case No: Vermont / Nebraska / California / Texas Receipt No.
Application Type: I-140
Category: EB1, EB2, or EB3

I am also waiting for the approval of my I-140 and opted for consular processing in Manila.

Briefly, the procedure for Immigrant Visa Application (GC) is as follows:

1. BCIS approves your petition (I-140) and sends your case
to NVC.
2. NVC will create a case number and sends you billing and some
forms to fill up.
3. After sending payment and forms back to NVC, they will
forward your case to US Embassy in Manila.
4. Embassy will inform you of the medical and interview dates.

If your case(I-140) is already approved, you can contact NVC to inquire if they received your case from BCIS-usually 2 to 3 weeks time after approval of I-140.

You can check your case status on-line at the BSIS website.

Hope this helps.
