Practical Training after getting waiver

I got my waiver last year and I wonder if I can still use my practical training.

Another issue is I heard that once you get your waiver you cannot extend your J-1. Extension of J-1 after waiver cancels your waiver.

Any help is appreciated.

Once you get your waiver your employer will automatically come to know about your status from the online database.

Further to that they would not extend it to J-1 visa. They will insist you to change it to H-1 Visa because it will involve expenses around 1000$.
It would be primarily your initiative with your sponsor willing to agree.
