OK. So here is my situation. I am 30 years old married mother of 2. My mom naturalized before I turned 18. She has a passport, but cannot find her certificate of naturalization. Can I send in the N600 without it? and include a copy of her passport instead? Also Ive heard about just getting a passport, but can i still do that without her naturalization papers? and im married, can i still do the n600? im so lost :(

I think they need proof of when she became a citizen, because that determines when you became a citizen. So I think her certificate of naturalization is necessary. She can apply for a replacement certificate with N-565, but that takes a while. But maybe since it's USCIS adjudicating an N-600, they can look up her certificate of naturalization? Not sure.

You can just get a passport and not get a certificate of citizenship; but you would definitely need her certificate of naturalization for that.

Your marital status is irrelevant.
