Minor with new passport - help

When my son turned 5, we got a new passport. I am currently looking into transferring the sticker to the new passport. But when I look through OCI process and required paperwork and the new vendor issues, I was wondering if it is worth it and was thinking if I could this instead

Renounce OCI for my son
Get a visitor visa for up coming travel to India



Has anyone done this before? Any issues or challenges that I need to be aware of?

You understand that even for renunciation of OCI and visitor visa you have to go thro' BLS, not once but twice!

Look long-term.
