Hi, I'm a J1 visa holder. I filed a waiver for the 2-year home residency requirement by early January, with an intent to apply and change the status to H1B, if selected. The status is now "Favorable Recommendation" online.

Can I travel outside of the U.S. during the waiver is processed or after I receive the waiver? I will not be able to know about the H1B status until late May-July this year and I have to travel internationally within 2weeks from now.

Please let me know what is the best thing to do at this moment, thank you.

I am on the same boat and I am worried about traveling while waiting for the waiver recommendation. Did you find out anything?

    This is my case:
I am wondering if I should travel while waiting for the NOS. My current visa expires may 2016 and but my ds2019 is valid until Dec 2016.

I am a Dominican Grad student on a J1. I would like to go home this April to renew my visa in order to be able to travel in September to Europe. Since I have already sent my end of the documents to the WRD, I am not sure if getting a new visa would hurt my case.

My other hesitation is if traveling before or after the waiver is issued would cause me a problem since the process has been started. Any thoughts? I am very worried at this point. HELP! What should I do?
